Please be in prayer for our own hearts, our church, our city, and our nation. There is so much unrest raging over race, justice, politics, the police force and more. We are all directly affected in some way and need to be reminded that, though it may not feel like it, Jesus has still risen over all of these hurts and divisions. We need to be praying about how the church of Christ can display the gospel as the real, tangible, practical answer in these times. If the great commandment is anything, it should be the filter by which we think, speak, and post right now.
"And he said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the law and the Prophets." (Matt. 22:37-40)
Make no mistake, we are in a war. However, the opponent isn't people who look and vote differently than you, it's Satan, and he knows that the best thing he can do to hurt the witness of the church is division. The gospel is about reconciliation, not division, so let's put on the armor of God and battle together against the true enemy. I am praying for you all. I am thankful to serve with you all. Below are some resources, please let me know if you have any questions.
This week Ruth McCoy will answer one of the questions submitted to the Disciple Makers Forum. The question is "What is a good time to start asking a person you are discipling questions about where they are spiritually and what is a good way to do that?" Ruth helps us to understand how to dig into people's hearts with good question asking, allowing them space to engage God's word to discover their spiritual condition.
