Day 7

Scripture to Read: Joshua 2:22–24

Because Rahab trusted God, the spies were able to return safely. We read in Joshua 2:22–24, “They departed and came to the hill country, and remained there for three days until the pursuers returned. Now the pursuers had sought them all along the road, but had not found them. 23 Then the two men returned and came down from the hill country and crossed over and came to Joshua the son of Nun, and they related to him all that had happened to them. 24 They said to Joshua, ‘Surely the Lord has given all the land into our hands; moreover, all the inhabitants of the land have melted away before us.’” God protected the spies, and they returned and gave Joshua their report. Joshua knew God was fulfilling His promise and even said, “the Lord has given all the land into our hands.” God always keeps His promises, which is a great reminder to us to cling to Him and the promises He has given us through our Lord Jesus Christ. Just as Joshua trusted all that God had spoken to Him, we must continually be in God’s Word to hear His voice and walk in the Truth He has lovingly given us. God does not want us to walk in blind faith, but to have full knowledge of Him and all that He has for us to do each day. We have so much to be thankful for because of all that He’s already done for us through Christ and for all that is still to come.

Challenge & Application

How do we know that God will fulfill the promises He has given us through Christ? How are you thanking the Lord each day, not only through your words but also through your life?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Moses had died, and God had chosen Joshua to lead the Israelites into the promised land. Rahab became a key figure that God used as the Israelites planned to cross the Jordan and first enter the promised land. Day 2

God gave Joshua three more reminders of His command in Joshua 1:6, 7, & 9 to “be strong and courageous.” God had spoken these same words to Joshua through Moses in Deuteronomy 31:6 & 8, and then again in Deuteronomy 31:23 when God commissioned Joshua. The strength and courage Joshua needed came from the Lord and not from himself. God clarifie...

Joshua knew that God was with him. We read in Joshua 2:1 that before Joshua led the Israelites across the Jordan, he sent two spies to view the land, especially to see how Jericho was fortified. The spies went to the house of Rahab, a prostitute, and stayed there. God doesn’t reveal why the two spies went to Rahab’s house; we can only guess t...

When the people in Jericho and in all of Canaan heard about all that God had done on behalf of the nation of Israel (Joshua 2:10), God had Rahab share the following with the two spies in Joshua 2:11, “When we heard it, our hearts melted and no courage remained in any man any longer because of you; for the Lord your God, He is God in heaven ab...

Day 6

Rahab then asked the spies to spare her and all her family when they returned to take over Jericho. The spies spoke words of encouragement to Rahab and told her that if she kept silent about them, then they would be sure that she and her family would be spared from the destruction coming to Jericho. After they spoke, Rahab allowed the men to ...
