Day 3

Scripture to Read: Luke 5:17–19

Jesus’ ministry continued to marvel many, and often, people would do whatever it took to get their family and friends in front of Jesus just hoping He would be willing to heal them. God had Luke record the following in Luke 5:17–19, “One day He was teaching; and there were some Pharisees and teachers of the law sitting there, who had come from every village of Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem; and the power of the Lord was present for Him to perform healing. 18 And some men were carrying on a bed a man who was paralyzed; and they were trying to bring him in and to set him down in front of Him. 19 But not finding any way to bring him in because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and let him down through the tiles with his stretcher, into the middle of the crowd, in front of Jesus.” In the crowd that day were people from all over the place. The story of the miracles that had taken place caused people to seek Jesus. The men who carried their paralyzed friend had set in their hearts that nothing was going to stop them from getting their friend in the presence of Jesus. Imagine if every born-again follower of Christ had that kind of determination to bring their lost family and friends to Jesus. Nothing would stop us from sharing Christ with every lost soul on the face of the earth. Every Christian should be that burdened and determined to make sure the lost are introduced to our Lord.

Challenge & Application

Why were the friends of the paralyzed man so determined for their friend to be set before Jesus? What will it take for you to be that determined to introduce your lost family and friends to Christ your Lord?
