Scripture to Read: Psalm 38:15
As Christians, it is awesome to know that God rescues us, through our Lord Jesus Christ, from the depths of our guilt and shame of sin (Colossians 1:13–14). The only confidence in our cleansing and healing is found in our relationship with Christ (Colossians 2:13–14). Because of our faith in Christ’s death, burial, and resur- rection, we can confidently share this good news with others so they can find complete hope in Christ. Part of the beauty of Psalm 38:15 is that God uses the psalmist to remind us that we must hope in our Lord, and as we do, we know He listens to us and an- swers our every prayer. God had the Psalmist write in Psalm 38:15, “For I hope in You, O Lord; You will answer, O Lord my God.” The fact that we can talk and fellowship with God the Father, no mat- ter what, gives us great hope. Again, note that the psalmist says to the Lord, “You will answer.” We know that when the Psalmist wrote this, the Holy Spirit did not yet indwell people as He has ever since Pentecost in Acts 2. Since we have the Holy Spirit dwelling in us, we should never doubt that God hears our every prayer and that we never pray alone (Romans 8:26–27, Romans 8:34, Hebrews 7:25). Even when we do not feel close to God the Father, our great comfort, joy, and hope is that God the Spirit continuously lives in us and prays with, for, and through us. Our hope is secure in our Lord.
