Scripture to Read: Jeremiah 31:31-32
God, as He spoke to Jeremiah, unfolded the new covenant He would make in Jeremiah 31:33–34, “But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days,” declares the Lord, “I will put My law within them and on their heart I will write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. They will not teach again, each man his neighbor and each man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they will all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them,” de- clares the Lord, “for I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.” God promised to put His law directly within the hearts of those who surrender to Him. We know that through Christ, we’ve been given the fullness of God through His Holy Spirit. There is no greater hope than what God has giv- en us through our Lord Jesus Christ. In Jeremiah 31, God con- firms that for everyone who surrenders to Him, He will forgive all their sins and remember them no more. Through Christ our Lord, God the Father has forgiven every Christian over the last two thousand years of every sin. The reason many Christians don’t enjoy the hope we have in Christ is because they submit to their feelings of guilt and shame over their past sins instead of walking in the fullness of the new covenant every Christian has in Christ. Don’t buy the lie of who you used to be without Christ, but walk in who you are in Him.
Challenge & Application
• Why is the new covenant such a message of hope for this world today?
• Why do so many Christians miss the fullness of the hope they have in Christ?
